The use of sound in this trailer is particularly good in the sense that it builds a lot of tension therefore making the audience become more engaged. The use of the diegetic sound of the dinosaurs voice in the beginning of this clip shows the audience what they can expect from the film and also gives them a sense of fear. There is also what seems to be a voice over, "Its not about control" which the audience later discover is from a scene. This is effective in terms of where it is placed in the trailer because the audience are enabled to know what the male protagonist is talking about and tell them the plot of the film. The use of the lower pitch builds tension as the audience watching it will want to find out more about what is happening. The background sound also fits with the fast paced editing which is included in the trailer. The cuts between each shot move quickly onto something else which helps to build the tension. There is use of shot reverse shot in the trailer which will show that this editing technique will be shown in the actual film also. This is used to show the conversation between two characters. The first shot that is shown in the trailer is an establishing shot to show the newly made park which resembles the old park in the previous films. With this being an action/adventure film with a fantasy feel to it because of the use of CGI in terms of the creation of the dinosaurs, there are a lot of establishing shots so that the audience can tell the change of setting and also feel as though they are apart of the film. The trailer also include some medium shots to show the characters and also the dinosaurs which the audience feel as though they can connect with them. As it looks like the male protagonist is training the dinosaurs at the very start of the trailer, its important for it to connect to the audience as they will begin to feel like they are part of the trailer and will therefore want to see the film once it has been released. An over the shoulder shot had been used also at the start of the trailer to show the body language of the male protagonist but also shows what he is doing. There is then a close up of him which shows his calm expression whilst being close to the dinosaurs. As his eyes are quite big it does suggest that he is fearful of what could happen, which gives the audience a sense of thrill and excitement whilst watching this. The lighting on the dinosaurs is quite dark suggesting that they are the characters in which the audience feel fearful and frightened to watch but also will make them want to go and see it because of that thrilling nature. The other characters are in light lighting suggesting that they are the people the story follows. It seems to be lighter on the actors which are well known, such as Chris Pratt, so that the audience can recognize them from previous films and will be more likely to go and watch the film once it has been released. There is also a part in the trailer where there is a close up of leaves with a dinosaur in the background. As the eye is quite dark, the audience do not see the dinosaur until it turns a much more yellower shade of the eye so it stands out. This will again add some thrill into the trailer because of how big it is in comparison to the leaves. The background sound then dies out and comes back in once the sound of the dinosaur stops its foot down. This builds tension but also because of the effect put onto it, making sound like it rumbles, makes the audience aware of how big the creature actually is. This will make them fear the dinosaur but will want to see the film because of the tension it had built. The use of a high angle shot is used so that it feels like the audience is in the perspective of the dinosaur because of how small the two men are on the ground. This again shows how big the dinosaur is adding to the fear. As this is an action/fantasy film the audience will expect a lot of running which is what the next cut shows. This is through the use of a close up to show the fear on the male protagonists expression. There is then a part where the background sound fades out and is left with a loud beeping sound which is diegetic. When this stops, there is a close up on the mans wrist where he has a drop of blood there. There is then a second drop which falls onto him which when he looks up the dinosaur is there and the loud music is back. This adds the tension into the trailer because of how quite it was, meaning that the audience knew that something bad was about to happen. The use of the two shot enables the audience to know the two characters which are quite important in the film. This is shown once a claw had cracked the glass. As this is a fairly close up shot, the audience are aware of the fear because of their facial expressions. The 'hunt' is quite dark in the trailer to show the danger of what they are about to do which adds to the tension and the fear which the audience are expecting. Also, what a common feature in action films is, is that there is use of machinery and fire which in this particular part of the trailer there is. The fire highlights the danger of the 'hunt' and the use of machinery shows how important it is to try and immobilize the creature. There is also use of slow motion running which is common in action films, especially for a woman to be doing so. This is shown in this trailer to show the tension of the film and that the genre is action. After all of the fast paced editing with the use of cuts and fast paced music, the trailer fades to black where after the official logo of all of the Jurassic park films is which engages the audience because of how popular the previous films were.
